Smooth, sultry, and both syncopated and improvisational. That is what you get with actress and singer Chandra Currelley! Witness this powerhouse performer and regular Tyler Perry collaborator live at City Winery this Sunday, April 28th.
During her career, Chandra has had the opportunity to work with some of the greats, including music mogul Clarence Avant and the legendary recording group, The S.O.S. Band, which saw Chandra replacing the original lead singer in the late 1980s. She continued the band’s string of Top 20 Billboard hits with the albums Diamonds in the Raw and One of Many Nights, for which she wrote several songs, including the single “Broken Promises.”
Ms. Currelley is an artist that not only sounds great but feels every note she sings. That's one of the reasons why she was chosen by jazz legend Roy Ayers to record their duet, “Let Me Love You.” The Helen Hayes and NAACP Phoenix Award nominee has released three solo albums: Relationships, The Real Me and Love Songs, which contains the hit song “Love Again” from the blockbuster Tyler Perry movie, Diary of a Mad Black Woman.
Ms. Currelley has opened for Bobby Brown, Howard Hewitt, Montel Jordan, Mike Phillips and Alex Bugnon, among others. She has performed at Long Beach Jazz Festival, Berkeley Jazz Festival, J Fly Music Festival, Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage, Praise 102.5FM Gospel Jazz Live, the Holland Juneteeth Music Festival and The Atlanta Jazz Festival.
Chandra Currelley's live shows are unforgettable and always leave the audiences shouting for more! Because of her ability to cross musical and theatrical styles, the singer and actress’s credits include Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family and Oprah Winfrey Network’s For Better Or Worse.
Don’t miss your chance to see Chandra Currelley live at City Winery this Sunday night! Admission ranges from $20 to $24. For tickets and more information, visit www.citywinery.com/atlanta.
