Stay Cool in the Sweltering Georgia Heat with These Three Suggestions, Aside From the Obvious

Although we provide the utmost luxury at Windward Place Apartments in Alpharetta, Georgia, we love going the extra mile with our digital resources! Spice up your life with something different, and try out this new routine, recipe, or recommendation today.

Full of fun, freedom, and frivolities, summer is right around the corner. But, there’s no denying that summertime can get hot, especially in Atlanta and its surrounding areas. To avoid putting a damper on your children’s summertime activities, there is a way to still enjoy the outdoors without having to resort to the on-site swimming pool every single day, which can take up a lot of your time and energy. Here are three of our suggestions to stay cool this summer and still have a great time!

Set-up a slip and slide.

If you are the 80s or 90s kid, you remember the time that would slip by in the summer on your Slip ‘n Slide. If there’s room to do this fun, adventurous activity outside of your apartment home, don’t hesitate to set one up outdoors – store-bought or homemade – and let the hours of fun unfold. Make sure you’re on a slight incline and within reach of a garden hose, then drizzle some dish soap on the surface and let the fun begin! Just keep your eyes on the kiddos at all times for the ultimate in-home safety.

Play with water balloons.

Water balloon fight! It’s like a snowball fight, but it’s way better. Have your kiddos and their friends fill tons of balloons with water, just like you did when you were little. Depending on how many kids there are, you can set up different water balloon games! If there are an odd number of kids, for instance, they can stand in a circle and play a water balloon version of “hot potato.” The person, who drops the balloon and breaks it, has to sit it out until there is only one player left standing.

Make ice pops from scratch.

There’s nothing quite as refreshing as ice pops in the dead of summer! And while, it’s easy to buy these in bulk at Costco or Sam’s, it’s a whole other hands-on adventure to make them yourself from the comfort of your apartment home. Buy an ice pop holder, then fill it with your ingredients such as yogurt, juice, or pureed fruit and pour your concoction into the mold. Insert a stick, freeze until solid, and enjoy all the yumminess! If anything, this treat will surely cool you down on a hot summer’s day!
